Copernicia prunifera (blue)

The “Carnauba Wax palm” is a surprisingly cold tolerant palm that has been documented as having been grown successfully as far north as Orlando, Fl. It is extremely interesting in the landscape both because of its blue color and because it retains its knobby leaf bases which spiral around the lower portions of the trunk giving it a very different look. Given time it can reach 30 feet tall.

Warning though, it is very well armed with sharp teeth along its petiole that can grip and hold.
