Cryosophila

Because all nine species of cyosophila are so difficult to distinguish from one another, in our nursery we have more or less lumped them all together as C.warscewiczii or as commonly called “rootspine” palms.

In habitat they achieve heights of near 30 feet but in cultivation quite a bit less. An attractive palm that needs shade when young but can adapt to sun however I personally feel it is much prettier in the shade, its moisture requirements are high and while somewhat cold tolerant cannot withstand freezing temperatures.
