Dypsis florencii

(Candy cane)

This palm is a clustering palm that only grows to about 10 feet and has been call the Barber Pole Palm, Candy Cane palm and a host of other names that lead to problems in accurate taxonomy. It is a fast grower, can take a good bit of sun and have very variable leaf structure going from whole entire leaves to completely pinnate leaves. It would do best in bright filtered light and seems to love water. The names candy cane and barber pole are the result of the varying colorations of the crown shaft and stem.
