Dypsis pilulifera
(Orange crush)

Native to Madagascar this solitary medium sized palm can get quite tall in habitat (to 75 feet) but much smaller in cultivation and is regarded by some to be the most beautiful of the palms of Madagascar. It has a green trunk with brown leaf scars and most often a bright orange crown shaft hence the common name “Orange crush” The leaves can grow to 10 to 15 feet long with extremely long leaflets. In our nursery they appear to like a lot of water so water frequently in a well-drained soil.
