Cyphophoenix nucele

Is endemic to the Loyalty Islands which are located east of New Caledonia. In habitat it grows to nearly 50 feet, but much smaller in cultivation. The crown shaft is covered by a nearly pure white, fuzzy felt like tomentum. The dark green leaves are held erect on short petioles similar to a shaving brush. They grow on alkaline (limestone) outcroppings. Somewhat cold sensitive and needs frequent watering, but in well-drained soil.
