Dictyocaryum lamarckianum
(Blue Sapphire)
Although native to Bolivia growing at above 2,000 meters high in the Andes, this palm, especially when young likes it humid and shady. Apparently due to cloud cover in its natural habitat. It’s said not to like the heat of South Florida and absolutely cannot be allowed to dry out. This is a recent addition to our collections, so we have little growing information other than a client in Wilton Manors, FL says his are doing fantastic and growing nicely, having been planted in a moist, shady spot.
