Licuala “mapu” is a cultivar of L. mattanensis. It is highly sought after by collectors around the world and while  the seeds don’t appear to be that difficult to germinate keeping them alive as infant seedlings is quite a task further adding to the palm’s priciness. It only grows to about three feet, has gorgeous mottled green and yellow leaves and is somewhat cold sensitive… However if you are successful in getting it past the seedling stage its not nearly as difficult  nor as tender and is drop dead gorgeous as a show stopping  highly ornamental potted palm on your shaded patio.
