Licuala peltata

A solitary trunked species though it has been known to have occasionally if not rarely to have formed multiple stalks. The huge, dark green, round leaf can be up to 6 feet wide and resembles a huge pinwheel. Although in the wild it grows in low mountainous rain forests it appears to do well in even alkaline soils. It does well in the shade but can adapt to quite a bit of sun. Filtered light or shade is best.
