Thailand: very, very slow to form a trunk. This truly magnificent, extremely tropical appearing palm with circular leaves 6 to 8 feet wide, with the underside of the leaf so gorgeous its not to be believed,  supported on black petioles which form a leaf crown 10 to 12 feet wide is surprisingly cold hardy to zone 9b. It is ideally suited for patio or courtyard and a simply gorgeous accent piece for the filtered light or shady part of the garden.
