Syagrus botryaphora
One of the world’s fastest growing palms achieving heights of up to 40 feet and more with a trunk of less than 15 inches in diameter at a rate of up to 6 feet of trunk per year under optimum conditions. It has long 12 foot leaves that arch so strongly they form a near semicircle as they bend back towards the trunk. We have found them to be extremely cold tolerant with standing temperatures in the mid twenties with no damage. While it may need partial shade or filtered light as a young seedling it quickly adapts to full sun. It needs a rich well fertilized soil and lots of water.
